At Arohana Academy of Performing Arts LLC, dance is the medium to rise and connect with your inner divine self. We ensure that all students discover their limitless possibilities by instilling a "never give up" attitude that assists them to grow not only as exceptional dancers, but as leaders. Our passionate teaching style cultivates interest in all students, pushing students to do their best and makes dance an integral part of their life. Through our rigorous training program, many life skills such as patience, self-awareness, confidence, determination, and physical and mental strength bloom. 

Arohana is for everyone who wishes to discover their hidden possibilities, regardless of age and experience.

Multiple Styles

At Arohana Academy, students dip their feet in the waters of multiple other unique Indian dance forms. In the past students have learned a variety of dance forms such as Kolatta, Kaikottikali, Lavani, Bhangra, Rajasthani folk, peacock dance, and Karagattam. Arohana Academy continues to occasionally offer programs focused on other  Indian dance styles for interested students.

Our Mission

Arohana Academy of Performing Arts LLC was founded in 2002 by Smt. Jayalakshmi Kamath and Guru Smt. Deepa Kamath. It was initially based in Bengaluru, India where many students were trained in certification courses recognized by the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB).

From the very beginning, Arohana Academy has passed down the intricate craft of Bharathantayam to future generations. Arohana Academy makes it a point to delve deep into our roots to not only teach Bharathanatyam, but to build a cultural bridge to the origins of this beautiful art form. We help our students embrace and connect to Indian culture, by focusing on the traditional aspects of Bharathanatyam just as much as the dance itself. Indian morals are integrated into our teaching as we aid our students grow into remarkable dancers and outstanding people who have a strong sense of belonging.

Guru Smt. Deepa  Kamath

Smt. Deepa Kamath is an engineer by profession with 8 years of experience in the IT industry. She has a bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communications with a postgraduate diploma in Business Management with a specialization in Marketing. 

 

Smt. Deepa Kamath began her journey in dance in 1987 when her mother introduced her to the beautiful and ancient Indian classical dance, Bharathanatyam. Since then, dance has been her greatest passion. 

 

Smt. Deepa Kamath is a disciple of Guru Sri Raju Datar (Brother of the famous Kalamandalam Guru Smt. Usha Datar) and Guru Smt. Nagalakshmi K.

Deepa Kamath's keen interest, sincerity, and dedication to dance have helped her grow as a renowned artist. Her talent was displayed during her Arengetram (Rangapravesha) on Feb 7, 1994, in Ravindra Kalakshetra, Bengalore. International artists, critics, media personnel, politicians, government officials, writers, and art lovers have enjoyed and acclaimed the performance. She received compliments from one of the most famous critics of the time, Sri M. A. Jayaram Rao, chief editor of Udaya Vani, which was one of the most famous newspapers in Bengaluru, India at the time. Suddi Mrudanga, a local newspaper in Bengaluru, India also published a story about the successful performance.

 

Smt. Deepa Kamath specialized in Nritta, and Choreography under the guidance of internationally acclaimed Karnataka Kalashree Guru Kiran Subramanyam and Guru Smt. Sandhya Kiran, under the banner Rasika Arts Foundation. She is well versed in Vazhuvoor, Kalamadalam, and Mysuru style of dance. She holds a Vidwat in dance conferred by the Karnataka State Secondary Education Board. 

 

She is the co-founder of Arohana Academy of Performing Arts LLC, a dance school that promotes Indian art and culture. She has trained her students to excel in Bharatnatyam and the various folk dances of India. 

 

She is a nattuvanar and has worked with several dance organizations in Bengaluru. She has performed in many government performances and participated in performances sponsored by ICCR. In 2011, she received the prestigious Aryabhatta award in dance.
